Barry joined SROM in April 2026. His original connection to SROM began in 2013 when his son had the life changing experience of participating in SROM’s Forty Days and Forty Nights course.

Barry and his wife Diane live “stuck” in the cornfields of Central Illinois in Bloomington, IL. He uses the “stuck” comment completely tongue in cheek, as he has been a mountain man by desire and attitude most of his life. But in God’s perfect plan, he continues to be called to live 1000 miles away from any serious mountains. They have a daughter, Allison; son, Taylor; and daughter-in-law Anne.

Barry accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior as a Junior Higher, rededicated his life to the Lord in college, and has been leaning on his grace, and seeking to live a joyful, obedient, and impactful life ever since.

Barry’s career includes 30+ years in IT/Technology leadership at a Fortune 50 company, industrial manufacturing leadership in a small business context, procurement consulting, and most recently as Provider Relations Manager at Samaritan Ministries International.

After undergraduate work in Finance, Accounting, and Economics many years ago, he graduated in 2022 from Moody Theological Seminary with a Masters in Ministry Studies degree. It was through this academic work at Moody, and his passion for small group ministry at his church, that he felt the Lord’s calling to a “second career” in relationship building and shepherding in a Christian non-profit context.

In his remote/hybrid role as SROM’s Development Director, Barry has a passion for building Christian community and extending SROM’s ministry beyond the wilderness experience into daily life for SROM’s alumni and ministry partners. He would love to connect with you, and explore together, how God may be leading us to partner together for His kingdom work through SROM.
