A Light in the Wilderness:
Honoring Andrew Cross
On March 4, 2025, Andrew Cross passed from this life into eternity. He was surrounded by his dear wife Evelyn, his family, and a small group of friends. Andrew had been in the hospital for over a month after a horrific and tragic car accident left him in a coma on life support. His passing has created a hole in our collective heart here at SROM.

The trip was a launching point of connection to the people of SROM and the purpose of the ministry. Andrew became a part of the larger SROM family. He went on to lead different trips and groups on a wide variety of wilderness outings. In all of those experiences, Andrew impacted the hearts and lives of those he served and led. He was the hands and feet of Jesus to others.
Our hearts are breaking with Andrew’s passing. We have cried many tears. We are filled with deep sadness that a child of God, a light of Christ, is no longer with us. Andrew lived a full and meaningful life yet one cut too short.

On the day of his passing, we gathered as staff to mourn his death and honor his life. We gathered for a time of silent reflection and prayers. Then, as a staff, we began to thank God for Andrew’s life and impact on us. We began to pray for Evelyn, her family, and Andrew’s family. We began to pray for us, his friends, and all those that are still here to grieve his loss.
In the days since Andrew’s death, we have felt and held the tension of two realities that exist at the same time. One is a grief, sadness, and sorrow that he is gone and we will never enjoy his presence again here on earth. The other is a quiet and settling peace that Andrew is in the presence of Jesus and is freed from his suffering.
Dear friend, we miss you and love you.
