SROM accreditation call out photo

SROM is accredited by the Association for Experiential Education (AEE). SROM is committed to AEE accreditation as a means to ensure excellence and industry best standards for all aspects of the ministry. SROM was one of the first ten wilderness adventure programs in the world to be accredited by the AEE, and the only Christian organization to achieve this distinction. Universities and organizations that have AEE-accredited outdoor programs include Harvard, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Indiana University, University of New Hampshire, and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Accreditation by the AEE means that SROM meets the highest standards for safety, risk management, instructor training, and programming in the field of outdoor adventure education.

Accreditation is a rigorous, multi-year process consisting of a comprehensive internal review and a thorough external review. The external review includes a three day site visit by peer reviewers during field operations. In 2006 all 137 standards for which SROM was accountable for had to be met and evidenced for the accreditation to be awarded.

SROM attends and presents at the International Association for Experiential Education conference regularly. The AEE conference is an opportunity to receive training and education in the field of wilderness education. The AEE conference allows SROM to stay current on issues, topics, and best practices in order to ensure continued excellence in regards to safety, risk management, instructor training, and programming. To learn more about the AEE, please refer to their website: www.aee.org.
