SROM is a premier Christ-centered deep wilderness ministry. SROM’s mission, in the context of technical deep wilderness expeditions, is to birth and grow mature Christ followers; sons and daughters of light who become loving and loyal disciples who make disciples of all nations.
At SROM, the wilderness is a context for discipling sons and daughters of God to be influential leaders in their communities and circles of influence. Our programming activities include backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, back country cooking, alpine and back country living, and authentic community building. SROM programming occurs in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and desert southwest with courses and trips conducted in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Arizona in locations such as Rocky Mountain National Park, Wind River Wilderness, and Grand Canyon National Park. SROM is the only wilderness ministry accredited by the Association for Experiential Education. SROM is the only wilderness ministry that is an official course provider for the industry leading Leave No Trace Master Educator Course.
To learn more about us, it is important to realize that the Bible repeatedly reveals that individuals, families, and entire nations were transformed during time spent in a literal wilderness. Wilderness contexts are environments designed by God to be places of divine-human encounter that provide catalytic gateway experiences for personal spiritual, emotional, and physical growth.
SROM has been providing industry-leading wilderness adventure experiences for youth and young adults for over 30 years. SROM is headquartered in Laramie, Wyoming and has served churches, parachurch organizations, schools, and institutions of higher education throughout the country. We are committed to excellence in all that we do. SROM has a proven track record of providing high-quality wilderness adventure experiences that are responsive and adaptable to the needs and desired outcomes of our partners and those we serve.
SROM is the only wilderness ministry accredited by the Association for Experiential Education (AEE). We provide both custom and open enrollment courses ranging in length from 1 to 40 days in locations throughout the Rocky Mountains. SROM provides all needed outdoor group equipment, food, permits, and ground transportation. SROM also makes partial scholarships available to those in need. In over 30 years of operation, SROM has taken over 6,000 students into the wilderness without a single serious injury to a student. See Safety.
SROM is a nonprofit ministry 501(c)3 organization. SROM’s own fundraising helps offset the cost of our courses.
